‘Fushimi Inari Taisha’ original acrylic and ink painting on cut paper. Presented in a 25 x 25cm black box frame. There are three distinct layers lifted from a dark background, creating an interesting theatrical effect as each raised shape cast a shadow on the illustration below.
Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. Famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails leading into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari.
